On Monday, 20th July the Sylvans will hold a rapid debate session covering 2-3 short topics.
All are welcome to attend without pre-registration – we have new joiners all the time, and no experience is required. Attendees are welcome to participate or simply observe. The event will be held at Ye Olde Cock Tavern, 22 Fleet Street, simply turn up at 6:45 for a 7pm start.
We will take a vote at the beginning of the evening on which topics to debate from the following set:
- the greater threat from AI is not job loss, but loss of purpose
- the UK would benefit from ‘business friendly socialism’
- the West should leave the Middle East to its own devices
- this house believes in Andy Burnham
- this house believes that the UK legal system does not protect women
How to attend
Our debates (other than online only ones) take place at our venue, Ye Olde Cock Tavern, 22 Fleet Street, second floor. Please arrive at 6:45 for a 7pm start.
No experience required
No pre-registration is required, visitors are welcome to turn up on the night, with no prior public speaking experience required. Visitors can simply observe, and are also very welcome to participate in the debates.
